Dexter: Original Sin Release Date - When Will the Prequel Spinoff Premiere?

All the potential release dates for the highly anticipated series!

It has been exactly a week since Showtime and Paramount+ announced more details about the new era in the Dexter franchise. The Dexter prequel series will officially be called "Dexter: Original Sin," and 29-year-old Irish actor Patrick Gibson has been cast as young Dexter Morgan. Christian Slater will portray Harry Morgan, and Molly Brown will play Dexter's sister, Debra.

The prequel will be set in 1991 Miami, and according to Showtime's official press release, the 10-episode season follows Dexter as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry, he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.

Dexter: Original Sin begins production in the next few days or weeks, but when will it debut on Paramount+ with Showtime?

To find out, let's look back at the original series and Dexter: New Blood. Most of the original Dexter seasons began filming in mid-May. Each season had 12 episodes, with each episode taking approximately 15 days to shoot. According to Dexter Daily's archive from 2012, the seventh season (as well as the previous ones) wrapped filming in mid-November.

Dexter: New Blood, on the other hand, was a different case. They filmed the episodes like a movie (without any particular order), and due to COVID-19 and the freezing weather in the earlier stages of production, there were several delays.

Considering all these factors, let's examine all the potential release dates for 2024 and 2025, and assess how likely each of the potential months and dates are. Keep in mind that the episodes will air on Sundays, just like all eight seasons of the original series and Dexter: New Blood.
