Sarah Michelle Gellar Reacts To Her Casting In Dexter: Original Sin: "It’s Going to Be a Bloody Good Ride"

The popular actress will portray Tanya Martin, the CSI Chief at the Miami Metro P.D.

Former 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' star Sarah Michelle Gellar has joined the cast of Dexter: Original Sin. Earlier this morning, Showtime released a teaser in the same tone as the previous ones, revealing the actress's name and the character she will be playing.

The actress, who has a substantial fan base, will portray Tanya Martin, Dexter's new boss and the CSI Chief at the Miami Metro Police Department.

Gellar took to her Instagram account to share the news with her followers, captioning it: "It’s going to be a bloody good ride," followed by three blood drop emojis.

Her good friend and former Dexter star Julie Benz congratulated her and wished her "the best time."

Other Dexter: Original Sin castmates also commented on her post. Young Deb actress Molly Brown said, "I’m still freaking out about this!! Welcome to the force!!" Alex Shimizu, who plays young Masuka, welcomed her to the show by saying, "So excited to be working with you, Sarah!!"

Sarah Michelle Gellar also shared via her Instagram Stories an image of her script from episode one.

The image, which reveals the title, the writer, and the director of the pilot, was taken exactly one week ago today, from the table read that took place in Los Angeles. Gellar was cast weeks ago, but the news was kept under wraps until now.

Dexter: Original Sin is set in 1991 Miami, fifteen years before the original series. The series picks up as Dex transitions from student to avenging serial killer.
