Let's see who's writing the very first episode of the Dexter prequel!

Today is a momentous day for Dexter fans! A major star has joined the cast of Dexter: Original Sin, the prequel series that explores Dexter's journey from student to avenging serial killer.

Sarah Michelle Gellar has joined the cast as Tanya Martin, the CSI Chief at the Miami Metro Police Department and Dexter's new boss.

In addition, we've learned the title of the pilot episode of Dexter: Original Sin (click here if you missed it) and now know who has written and directed it.

The writer of Episode 1 is none other than Clyde Phillips, the showrunner of Dexter seasons 1-4 and Dexter: New Blood. It’s no surprise that he is behind the first episode of the prequel.

As for the director, Michael Lehmann takes the helm. For those unfamiliar, Lehmann directed two episodes of the original series: Episode 10 of Season 6, "Ricochet Rabbit," and Episode 10 of Season 7, "The Dark...Whatever."
