Clyde Phillips Teases Dexter: Resurrection: "We’ve Figured Out How to Bring Dexter Back"

The showrunner and exec producer reveals they already know how to undo Dexter's death.

Dexter: Original Sin is currently filming its first episodes in Los Angeles, with a release date slated for December 2024. However, Showtime and the writers aren't solely focused on this prequel. Executive producer and showrunner Clyde Phillips is actively working on the script for another Dexter show—a sequel to Dexter: New Blood titled "Dexter: Resurrection."

Dexter: Resurrection was announced at the end of the Dexter: Original Sin panel at San Diego Comic-Con, much to everyone's surprise. Michael C. Hall will once again reprise his role as America's favorite fictional serial killer. According to Hall, the sequel "will pick up right where we left off."

During a recent interview with the LA Times, Clyde Phillips expressed confidence that Michael's return to Showtime's top show on Paramount+ will attract viewers. The writing team is energized by their plan to bring him back.

But, will audiences accept Michael C. Hall’s return as Dexter Morgan after his controversial death in the final minutes of Dexter: New Blood?

"Who are we kidding?" Phillips remarked.

"If we get Michael C. Hall back into Showtime’s No. 1 show on Paramount+, people are gonna watch it. So we’re invigorated in the writing room, now that we’ve figured out how to bring him back."
