One of the women who left a significant mark on Dexter's life was Lumen.
The Dexter universe is expanding with a variety of new spin-offs, the first of which is Dexter: Original Sin. This prequel explores the early years of Dexter Morgan as he joins Miami Metro in 1991. The show is set to debut on December 13, but based on the results of Dexter Daily’s poll, as well as feedback from our Instagram account, it seems that fans are even more excited about the second spin-off currently in development: Dexter: Resurrection. This sequel series, starring Michael C. Hall, picks up immediately after the events of Dexter: New Blood.
Filming for the new series is set to begin in January, with a scheduled debut next summer. The script is currently in development, and so far, Hall is the only confirmed returning actor.
Since the announcement of the show, fans have speculated about the return of Lumen Ann Pierce, portrayed by Julia Stiles, a character introduced in 2010. For those who may not remember, Lumen first appeared in the second episode of Season 5 when Dexter rescued her from a gang led by Jordan Chase, played by Jonny Lee Miller.
Dexter and Lumen's relationship had its ups and downs at first, but they eventually worked together like a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde to take down the perpetrators behind the "Barrel Girl Case." Lumen played a crucial role in helping Dexter find some semblance of redemption after the tragic loss of his wife, Rita. Their chemistry was palpable, but Lumen's darkness dissipated by the season finale when she and Dexter terminated the individuals who had tormented her.
Since then, there has been no news about Lumen's character, and with her arc concluded, Dexter moved on.
Back in 2020, when Dexter: New Blood was not yet in production, Julia Stiles was asked by Forbes about a potential return to the series. She expressed openness to the idea, stating, “I have absolutely no idea about that, but I’m sort of open to anything if it is done well.”
Four years later, with another sequel series on the horizon, Lumen's name continues to generate buzz among fans regarding a possible return. Some speculate that she owes Dexter for saving her life in Season 5, but her involvement would ultimately depend on the plot of Dexter: Resurrection. Will Dexter be on the run, or will he be arrested and put on trial? Regardless, Lumen could seamlessly fit into the storyline of this new series.
