Dexter: Original Sin Season Finale Draws Big Audience, Viewership Surges 27% from Premiere

The prequel's debut season wrapped up on a high note over the weekend.

The Dexter: Original Sin Season 1 finale aired on Valentine’s Day, and the show has seen a significant audience boost. According to Deadline, the tenth episode, “Code Blues,” recorded 2.68 million global viewers on Paramount+ with Showtime, marking a 27% increase from its record-breaking series premiere in December.

The numbers, provided by Paramount Global, account for the three-day streaming audience following the episode’s release on Friday, February 14, as well as same-day linear viewership when it aired on Sunday, February 16. Notably, this made it the most-streamed episode of the season, surpassing the premiere’s streaming audience by 30%.

Dexter: Original Sin Breaks Showtime’s Streaming Records

Paramount Global has declared Dexter: Original Sin as Showtime’s most-streamed series in the past 10 years, a major milestone for the network. This means the prequel series has outperformed several of Showtime’s recent hits—including The Agency, The Curse, and Yellowjackets—in terms of streaming viewership.

Will Dexter: Original Sin Get a Season 2?

Despite its strong performance, Dexter: Original Sin has yet to be renewed for a second season. However, showrunner Clyde Phillips recently shared his plans for young Dexter’s future, hinting at what could come next.

The lack of an official renewal announcement from Paramount+ has only fueled fan anticipation. In a recent Dexter Daily poll, an overwhelming 94% of fans expressed their support for a second season.

With these impressive finale ratings, Paramount+ and Showtime may find it hard to ignore the demand for more Dexter: Original Sin. Stay tuned for updates!
