It’s official, Dexter fans! Two months after rumors first surfaced, Peter Dinklage has officially joined the cast of Dexter: Resurrection, confirming earlier reports from reliable sources.

The Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actor—best known for his role as Tyrion Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones—is the latest star to enter the Dexter universe.

Who Is Peter Dinklage Playing in Dexter: Resurrection?

According to Showtime and Paramount+, Dinklage will portray Leon Prater, a billionaire venture capitalist. While Prater is seen as a generous philanthropist, beneath his polished public image lies a world of dark intrigue.

Following Deadline’s exclusive announcement, Showtime’s official Dexter social media accounts released a teaser video revealing the casting. The teaser followed the same style as Uma Thurman’s recent casting announcement.

Dexter: Resurrection Director and Executive Producer React

Director Marcos Siega, returning to helm six episodes of Dexter: Resurrection after directing six episodes of Dexter: New Blood, shared his excitement on Instagram:

"I’m so excited to be working with Peter! We are building an incredible cast for Dexter: Resurrection! Coming to the #ParamountPlus with #Showtime plan this summer!"

Executive Producer and writer Scott Reynolds also teased fans about Dinklage’s casting, saying:

"I am so excited to have Peter Dinklage as Prater. You are gonna LOVE him."

What to Expect from Peter Dinklage in Dexter: Resurrection

Dinklage’s most recent role in Wicked: Part I was a massive hit, and his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister remains legendary. Now, fans eagerly anticipate how he will bring billionaire Leon Prater to life in the Dexter universe.

His on-screen chemistry with Michael C. Hall (Dexter Morgan) and Uma Thurman—who plays his right-hand woman—is sure to be a highlight of the series.

Feb 11, 2025 – SHOWTIME® today announced that Emmy® and Golden Globe® winner Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones, Avengers: Infinity War) will join the cast of the SHOWTIME® original drama series DEXTER®: RESURRECTION, starring SAG and Golden Globe winner Michael C. Hall (DEXTER®, Six Feet Under) in the titular role of Dexter Morgan.

Dinklage will play the series regular role of Leon Prater, a billionaire venture capitalist. To the world, Leon is a generous philanthropist, but behind his polished exterior lies dark intrigue. Previously announced cast included Uma Thurman, David Zayas, James Remar and Jack Alcott. 

Production for DEXTER: RESURRECTION kicked off in January 2025 in New York and the series is set to launch this summer on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME.
 
Most recently, DEXTER®: ORIGINAL SIN, a prequel series that follows Dexter (played by Patrick Gibson) as he transitions from student to serial killer, debuted in December of last year and delivered the most- streamed SHOWTIME® premiere in history with more than 2.1M global cross-platform viewers. The series is now streaming on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME. 

DEXTER: RESURRECTION is executive produced by Emmy nominee Clyde Phillips (DEXTER, DEXTER: ORIGINAL SIN, NURSE JACKIE), who also returns to serve as showrunner, and produced by SHOWTIME Studios and Counterpart Studios. Michael C. Hall (DEXTER, Six Feet Under) also serves as executive producer along with Scott Reynolds (Jessica Jones), Tony Hernandez (Emily in Paris) and Lilly Burns (Russian Doll), with Marcos Siega (DEXTER®: NEW BLOOD) serving as producing director.
