The former Dexter star has landed a new role in the Paramount+ hit series.
The acclaimed Yellowstone prequel, 1923, is back for its highly anticipated second season on Paramount+, and it brings with it a familiar face for Dexter fans. Jennifer Carpenter, best known for her role as Debra Morgan in Dexter and Dexter: New Blood, takes on a special role in the hit series.
Carpenter joins the 1923 saga as U.S. Deputy Marshal Mamie Fossett, a character with nerves of steel. Paramount+ has released a first look at her debut in Episode 2 of Season 2, showcasing her commanding presence. This marks one of Carpenter’s most significant roles post-Dexter: New Blood.
While it remains unclear how long Carpenter will appear in 1923, her portrayal of a deputy marshal seems like a natural fit.
Jennifer Carpenter Addresses Dexter: Resurrection Rumors
At the 1923 premiere in Los Angeles, Carpenter was asked about speculation surrounding her potential return as Debra Morgan in Dexter: Resurrection, currently filming in New York City.
To the disappointment of many fans, the actress confirmed she will not be reprising her iconic role:
"I am pretty focused where I am, and I feel like I've completed that box. I'm proud of it. I hope that they're having a wonderful time," she said, referring to the cast and crew. "And I'm so happy for the fans to have more to chew on."
However, rumors persist that Carpenter might make a brief appearance in Dexter: Resurrection, with some suggesting she is under an NDA and intentionally misdirecting fans.
