Michael C. Hall is officially returning as Dexter Morgan in the highly anticipated Dexter: Resurrection, premiering this summer. The new Showtime series will follow America’s favorite fictional serial killer in a fresh chapter set in New York City, taking place just weeks after the explosive finale of Dexter: New Blood.

Now three months into production, Dexter: Resurrection has already filmed half of its first season. Fans have been treated to exciting A-list casting news and several unofficial sneak peeks, thanks to dozens of set photos circulating online.

Among the standout additions to the cast are two familiar and beloved stars: Uma Thurman and Krysten Ritter. In Dexter: Resurrection, Thurman will portray a character named Charley, while Ritter takes on the role of Mia — also referred to by some insiders as "Lady Vengeance."

Could Charley or Mia Be Dexter’s New Love Interest?

Throughout the original eight-season run of Dexter, and in Dexter: New Blood, fans saw Dexter engage in several romantic relationships. Though his list of love interests isn't extensive, it includes significant characters like Rita Bennett, Lila West, Lumen Ann Pierce, Hannah McKay, and Angela Bishop.

But what about Dexter: Resurrection?

Dexter has historically shown a preference for blondes — with Rita, Lumen, and Hannah being the most impactful women in his life. Uma Thurman's Charley might just fit that mold perfectly, raising questions about whether she could become his next romantic partner.

On the other hand, Mia — a mysterious brunette played by Krysten Ritter — has already drawn comparisons to Lila West. While blondes have been Dexter’s main romantic interests, there have been exceptions: Lila, Angela, and Sofia (from Dexter: Original Sin) all had meaningful connections with him on screen.

Is Romance Even Possible for Dexter in the Sequel?

After the events of Dexter: New Blood, Dexter Morgan is a fugitive, having been accused of being the Bay Harbor Butcher and responsible for the deaths of Logan. With Dexter now on the run and living under extreme pressure, can he realistically enter a romantic relationship?

While the circumstances are far from ideal, Dexter fans know better than to rule anything out. The writers have a history of weaving love stories into even the darkest chapters of Dexter’s life. And given the casting of high-profile actresses like Thurman and Ritter — both age-appropriate and compelling — it wouldn’t be surprising if one (or both) become entangled with Dexter in a romantic subplot.

What Do You Think?

Should Dexter Morgan find love again in Dexter: Resurrection? Do you think Charley or Mia will be more than just supporting characters?
