An eventful night on the set of the Dexter sequel unfolded on April 3.
Believe it or not, it's already been three months since production began on Dexter: Resurrection, the highly anticipated series starring Michael C. Hall. With filming taking place in New York City, we've been fortunate to receive a steady stream of behind-the-scenes content. While none of these glimpses reveal major plot details, they are enough to give eager fans a taste of what's to come.
In contrast, Dexter: Original Sin, the prequel series filmed from June 5 to November 21 last year, had significantly fewer set photo leaks. This is largely due to most of its production taking place indoors at the CBS Radford Studios in Los Angeles.
An Exciting Night Shoot
On Thursday night, an intriguing scene was filmed in NYC. To mark the occasion, executive producer and writer Scott Reynolds—who has been involved with Dexter, Dexter: New Blood, Dexter: Original Sin, and Dexter: Resurrection—shared a behind-the-scenes image teasing the scene. "A night shoot on Dexter: Resurrection and it's gonna be good," he wrote on his Instagram Story.
Another image he posted on X (formerly Twitter) was particularly eye-catching. It showed Reynolds behind the scenes wearing a Dexter: Resurrection cap and holding his white Maltese dog, Mia, who appeared mesmerized by the action. Given the suspenseful nature of the shoot, this might have been a particularly intense scene.
What many may not know is that Reynolds' dog, Mia, was the inspiration for the name of Krysten Ritter’s character in the upcoming series. Reynolds and Ritter share a long-standing friendship dating back to their work together on Netflix's Jessica Jones, where he was a writer from 2015 to 2019. It's quite possible that Reynolds not only influenced the character's name but may have also played a role in Ritter’s casting as Mia Lapierre, also known as "Lady Vengeance."
Dexter: Original Sin Directors Reunite on Dexter: Resurrection Set
On Monday, there was a special reunion between Dexter: Original Sin directors Michael Lehmann and Monica Raymund. Raymund, who previously directed for the prequel series, is now helming four episodes of Resurrection.
For those curious about what was being filmed that day, production took place in Manhattan and involved Michael C. Hall alongside guest star David Dastmalchian. See the latest set photos here.
