Steve Schirripa Teases Vinny Role in Dexter: Resurrection, Reveals Key Scene Partners

The former Sopranos star revealed details about his role in the upcoming Dexter sequel.

Michael C. Hall returns this summer as America’s favorite fictional serial killer, Dexter Morgan, in Dexter: Resurrection — the latest chapter in Showtime’s beloved crime drama franchise. Picking up where Dexter: New Blood left off, the highly anticipated sequel has already made waves with its impressive cast, featuring several A-list Hollywood actors in both series regular and guest roles.

Among the most notable new additions is Steve Schirripa, best known for his role as Bobby Baccalieri on HBO's cult classic The Sopranos. Schirripa will appear in a guest role as a character named Vinny — a “greedy slumlord” — as revealed in mid-March.

Who Is Vinny in Dexter: Resurrection?

While Showtime has been tight-lipped about most guest characters this season, Schirripa’s role comes with a little extra detail. In a new interview with Boston.com, the actor opened up about his appearance in the new Dexter series:

“I did one episode so far — we shot it up in Yonkers — and I’m doing another soon. I play a sleazy landlord named Vinny. That’s about all I can tell you.”

While Vinny’s role might seem minor in a city like New York — where Dexter: Resurrection is set and slumlords are a dime a dozen — Schirripa’s scenes could have a larger impact, especially considering who he’s sharing screen time with.

Vinny and Harrison: What's the Connection?

The actor went on to reveal he shares scenes with Jack Alcott, who returns as Dexter’s son, Harrison:

“I had a scene with the son, Harrison — a very nice kid. I have a couple scenes with some of the original cast. It’s a great cast this year: Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage — it’s stacked.”

This insight gives fans a better sense of Vinny's involvement. The speculation? Vinny might be Harrison’s landlord, possibly renting him a rundown apartment. As a teenager trying to navigate life in a gritty city like New York, Harrison could easily find himself in financial trouble — making him an easy target for a greedy character like Vinny.

Will Vinny Cross Paths with Dexter or Batista?

Schirripa also teased scenes with "some of the original cast," leading fans to wonder if he'll share screen time with Dexter himself — or perhaps Detective Angel Batista, who may be continuing his investigation and tracking leads in NYC.

Whether Vinny is just another city villain or plays a larger role in the unfolding drama remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: the excitement around Dexter: Resurrection is building fast.

What Do You Think?

Could Vinny be a major obstacle for Harrison? Is Batista closing in? Could there be more to this slumlord than meets the eye?
